Double Glazed Units

Choose sturdy and reliable laminates from one of the UK's leading glass suppliers

Double Glazed Units, also called Insulated Glass Units (IGUs), feature two panes of glass separated by a spacer and sealed to create an insulating air (or argon gas) space. They are engineered to boost energy efficiency and acoustic performance in homes and commercial buildings.

Improved energy efficiency

Helps maintain indoor temperature by minimizing heat loss or gain, reducing reliance on heating and cooling systems.

Excellent thermal insulation

Two glass panes with an insulating air or gas layer provide excellent thermal performance, ideal for all climates.

Reduces condensation and external noise

Minimizes condensation build-up on the interior glass surface and significantly lowers external noise for a more comfortable indoor environment.

Versatile Applications

Ideal for windows, doors, facades, and curtain wall systems, offering performance without compromising aesthetics.

Applications

Due to its durability and safety properties, toughened glass is widely used in various applications, including:

Automotive Industry

Widely used in vehicle windshields to ensure safety during collisions.

Hurricane-Prone Regions

Utilized in areas susceptible to severe weather to resist windborne debris.

Architectural Glazing

Employed in windows, facades, and skylights where safety and security are priorities.

Manufacturing Process

Assembly

Two or more glass sheets are thoroughly cleaned and then layered with the PVB interlayer

Preliminary Bonding

The assembled layers are passed through rollers to expel air and achieve initial adhesion between the glass and interlayer.

Autoclaving

The glass assembly is subjected to heat and pressure in an autoclave, permanently bonding the layers and ensuring clarity.
